I was at JCCS last weekend and saw a stunning G-Nose 240Z.
A little girl walks up to this car.
She leans on the bumper and tries to sit full feet-off-the-ground style on it.
The mom walks up and I expect her to lose her shit.
She doesn't do a damn thing.
Wat.
What.
WHAT.
G-nose cars are quite rare and the chances of finding another G-nose front if this girl had have cracked it was extremely slim, not to mention the expense.
So parents: Do the right thing. It's understandable if your little kid who doesn't know any better sits on/in a car. If you don't do a damn thing to teach them it's wrong, you're the problem.

Right from day one -
1) don't touch if it's not our car.
2) Don't touch if it's not our car.
3) DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING HERE!!! Unless the owner specifically says it's okay and is watching.
Also, I let everybody touch my MG. Nobody can be worse to it than I was when I was a kid.

First of all; God damn you, I wish I could go to JCCS!
2nd, this is why you let kids sit IN the car.

reminds me of a sign I saw that said zippers and pocket rivets will scratch my paint, so no leaning against me unless you're naked

My one year old knows not to touch the cars. Well, most of the time. A child (or adult) should know not to sit on a car whether they're at a car show or not.

I have kids 2&4 and I try to keep them from touching, but its hard. I will reprimand.
My boy, 2, likes to walk to the neighbor's house and just run his hand along the car as he walks around it. & grabs door handles & apparently opens the fuel door. I am excited that he likes cars, but just wish he could contain himself.

I was at a car show in California a few months back. Lots of cars of varying values, a bit skewed towards American classics. I saw a woman sitting in a 1950s Chrysler, with a small, not yet talking I think kid in her lap holding the wheel. She was saying "are you driving the car?" in the encouraging voice like you do to a baby. There was no else near the car, and there was absolutely no way this was her car. Now, I suppose she could be the owner's daughter, or a friend, but you'd think the owner would be there to ask to do this. I really think this woman just thought it was okay to get in an unlocked car at a car show (windows were down) without asking, and let her baby play with the steering wheel. I was nonplussed, and came close to asking her if this was her car or if she knew the owner, but I didn't trust myself to ask nicely. People that act as if the world was put here for their kid's benefit have a real blind spot when it comes to courtesy or the rights of others and it's hard for me to relate to that.
In Carmel this year the cars that were participating in the Tour d'Elegance prior to competing in the Pebble Beach Concours parked on Ocean Drive, and anyone could and did walk right up to them. While it was cool to get so close to them, it was nearly impossible to get a picture and I really feared for the future of this tradition once a few cars get scratched by the careless or through some inadvertent jostling. The owners of these priceless cars must be wired differently from me. Thankfully most people realize the value of these cars and do at least try to be careful, but it only takes one or two incidents and word to get around for things to change. I hope it just turns into some ropes being put up.

Holy crap. That's a terrible parent.
